Raygun, Des Moines T-shirt shop, is expanding to Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District

If you need an ironic, Midwestern-themed T-shirt – like the one above – you’re in luck. Des Moines tee shop Raygun will open a Kansas City store at 18th Street and Baltimore this spring, according to The Des Moines Register‘s weekly Juice.

Raygun owner Mike Draper signed the lease for Raygun’s first store outside of Iowa last week, Juice reported. (Raygun opened in downtown Des Moines’ East Village in 2005 and expanded to Iowa City in 2010.) The expansion fits into the company’s move from an Iowa brand to a Midwestern one.

And it sounds like Draper is dedicated to staying in the central states.

“We said we’ll never open up outside the 12 states in the Midwest,” Draper told Juice. “This is our permanent boundary. We’re going to be a Midwestern company.”
