After Kansas City takes around a month break from the World Cup bustle, the Full Tilt Film Festival wants to “pull you right back” into sports celebration the last weekend in August.

In its inaugural year, Full Tilt is a sports-centered film festival offering screenings, panels, and Q&As with both filmmakers and athletes from August 28-29.

“It won’t just be documentaries,” says Rachel Kephart, director of the Kansas City Film Office, which created the Full Tilt Film Festival. “I’ve been describing it as offering everything from 30 for 30 to Marty Supreme—a mixture of narrative and nonfiction.”

It was recently announced that Chasing Goals, a documentary following KC youth refugee soccer club, Global FC, will premiere at the fest.

To prepare for the festival, passes are available to purchase, which saves your spot in line for screening and other events. Pass holders will have the advantage of getting first access to reservations.

Events scheduled Saturday, August 28 will take place on 18th and Vine, to “make sure that this festival feels like a festival—walkable, accessible, but also rooted in sports, Kansas City, and entertainment history,” says Kephart.

More information about the festival’s programming is coming soon, and those interested in attending can join Full Tilt’s mailing list to be notified about festival updates.
