Glenmorangie brand ambassador Dan Crowell will be at Rye (10551 Mission Road, Leawood) tonight for a four-course dinner featuring selections from the legendary maker of Scotch whisky. Executive chef Ryan Williams has developed a menu of some rich fall offerings to match with the spirit: Courses include glazed veal sweetbreads with pomegranate and chervil, and a roasted quail with root vegetables. To fete her new cookbook, Celebrate Like an Italian, Lidia Bastianich will be on hand at Lidia’s Kansas City (101 West 22nd Street) tonight to host a four-course dinner, mingle with guests and sign copies of their books. Among the options you can choose from: pear-and-pecorino ravioli, heritage pork shank with barley risotto, and pappardelle with beef guazzetto. Tonight’s wine dinner at Michael Smith (1900 Main) will feature the wines of one of Sonoma County’s first female winemakers, Merry Edwards. Brand ambassador Robert L. Bond will be hosting the event, which will feature six wines and five courses. One sample course: a filet of beef with bacon spaetzle in a plum demi glace, served with Merry Edwards’ Meredith pinot noir (2014). The dinner is $150 a person, exclusive of tax or gratuity. Scooter’s Coffee is opening its newest location today at 7621 Shawnee Mission Parkway in Overland Park. In honor of the opening, all proceeds today will be going to the Victory Project, a Sporting KC-affiliated charity which benefits children with cancer. The shop will also be hosting T-shirt, mug and gift-card giveaways all day.
Saturday, November 18
Crane Brewing Company is collaborating today from noon to 3 p.m. with Tapcade (1735 Swift Avenue) for coffee and doughnuts. Tapcade plans to “randall” (essentially, infuse) Benetti’s Coffee into Crane’s Omar Porter, then serve it with DoughBoy’s doughnuts.
