Howlin’ Fowls Hot Chicken Pop-Up

Kansas City’s culinary scene continues to flourish, with the latest hot spot being the Howlin’ Fowls pop-up, powered by creative chef and owner Chef Guroux Khalifa at District Biskuits. This sizzling new venture offers a fiery twist on the classic Nashville hot chicken, and it’s an experience that both spice lovers and foodie adventurers won’t want to miss.

Nestled in vibrant North Kansas City, the Howlin’ Fowls pop-up invites you in with its tantalizing aroma and lively atmosphere. The setup is simple but effective, focusing on delivering a flavor-packed punch in every bite.

The first thing that catches your eye is the menu, which showcases a variety of chicken dishes and sides, including their Hot Honey Chicken & Waffles ($17), Howlin’ Hot Mac ($13.95), and Mashed Potatoes & Gravy ($4.95).

The star of the show is, of course, the fried chicken. More specifically, the four-piece fried chicken meal that comes with a side ($14.95).

Perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, each piece is seasoned to perfection with a blend of spices that will have your taste buds dancing. The heat is bold but balanced, allowing the flavors of the chicken to shine through.

For my side dish, I chose the braised green beans, which provided a delightful contrast to the juicy main dish. The green beans were cooked to perfection and complemented the heat of the chicken, making it a well-rounded and satisfying meal.

Let’s not forget about their selection of house-made slushies: Troost Juice ($4). Pair your meal with any one of their six lemonade flavors, like the refreshing Strawberry or the zesty Crazyberry. And if you’re in the mood for something extra, spike it with your favorite booze for a feisty twist.

Beyond the food, the atmosphere at the Howlin’ Fowls pop-up is buzzing with energy. The friendly staff, upbeat music, and communal seating create a welcoming environment that encourages conversation and connection. There’s even a shaded patio when you’re eager for a good meal and a bit of sunshine.

In a city known for its barbecue, Howlin’ Fowls is carving out a unique niche with its hot chicken pop-up. Whether you’re a longtime lover of spicy food or new to the hot chicken craze, this pop-up promises an unforgettable experience!

Howlin’ Fowls Hot Chicken, powered by District Biscuits, is located at 504 Armour Road, North Kansas City, MO 64116.

HTeaO

As a food writer for The Pitch, I am constantly on the lookout for new and exciting experiences to share with my fellow Kansas City food and drink enthusiasts. Recently, I found myself at HTeaO in Raymore, Missouri, a gem for tea lovers seeking a refreshing twist on their favorite beverage.

My adventure led me to order a huge unsweet wild raspberry tea ($3.99).

HTeaO is a haven for tea aficionados, offering a vast selection of premium teas brewed to perfection. When I arrived, I was greeted by a bright, welcoming atmosphere and the enticing aroma of freshly brewed tea. The sleek, modern setup of the store, complete with rows of colorful tea dispensers, made choosing just one flavor a fun challenge.

After sampling all of the unsweetened flavors, I opted for a large unsweet wild raspberry tea, no ice. I went with an unsweet tea because I prefer agave over sugar, which I carry in my purse next to my hot sauce.

The tea was delicious. It had a vibrant raspberry flavor that was both tangy and subtly sweet, despite its unsweetened nature. Each sip was refreshing, with the natural berry notes shining through beautifully. It was the perfect balance of fruity goodness and classic tea essence.

I’m also a huge fan of the self-serve setup at HTeaO which allows you to customize your drink with a variety of ice options and fruit infusions, making it easy to tailor your tea to your liking.

For this visit, I kept it simple, letting the pure wild raspberry flavor take center stage, but the option to experiment with different combinations adds an exciting element to any visit.

In addition to the exceptional tea, the staff at HTeaO deserves a mention for their friendly and knowledgeable service. They were more than happy to guide me through the flavor options and offer recommendations based on my preferences, making my experience even more enjoyable.

HTeaO in Raymore is not just a place to grab a drink; it’s a destination for tea lovers looking to explore a world of flavors.

HTeaO is located at 705 W Foxwood Dr., Raymore, MO 64083.
