Mixtapes hail from both Ohio and Michigan. The band plays music that will draw you in, reminding you of that first time you heard one of those songs like the Replacements’ “I Will Dare” — a song that hits you in the gut, making your jaw drop.
You sit there, in front of your speakers, wondering why the hell this band isn’t currently the hot shit on Pitchfork. Then you think, “Well, maybe I can keep this my secret.” You don’t want to share them, afraid that someone you despise will start liking them, removing that shiny gloss of awesome from the band. It’s so rare anymore to find a band that a band that hasn’t been hyped to hell, that even now, typing this, I’m worried that I’m overselling Mixtapes.
