Yesterday, the Kansas City Business Journal’s Krista Klaus reported that Stretch had signed a deal to host a Spike TV show. No details about the show, though. And there’s a reason for that. “I can’t…

Petro America shareholder website pops up, celebrates ex-CEO Owen Hawkins

The shareholders of Petro America Corporation are speaking out — and their voices sound an awful lot like former CEO Owen Hawkins. The Star’s Dollars & Sense blog reported that a new shareholders website has popped up, linking to supposedly unaffiliated YouTube videos from shareholders repeating some of Hawkins’ old claims, which federal investigators say were a scam that bilked…

Of course, it’s from a K-State slant, so the rest of the conference sucks (and it’s kinda sweet that the site’s poll is predicting a Wildcat tourney win). But as someone who can remember…

All aboard! Mumford and Sons and more team up for the Railroad Revival Tour

Beginning at the end of next month, indie darlings (and Grammy nominees) Mumford & Sons will join forces with Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and the Old Crow Medicine Show for a short tour — on vintage rail cars. Their venues? Odd (but appropriate) places like Chandler, Arizona’s Railroad Museum. It’s a lot like the 1970 Festival Express, the…

Clay County authorities have a “person of interest” in custody in last week’s triple homicide at a Northland Red Roof Inn. KMBC Channel 9 is reporting that 18-year-old Isaac Perdomo-Paz is being held on charges unrelated to the homicides (failure to appear and obstructing police charges), but authorities are calling him a person of interest in the homicides of 18-year-olds…

Win tickets to see Das Racist at The Granada!

For a hot minute in 2008, the entire blogosphere was plagued with one pressing question: Are you at the Pizza Hut or at the Taco Bell? Who knew that two goofy guys repeating a couple of stupid phrases could have been the beginnings of a credible — hell, revered — rap group that Rolling Stone gave accolades to last year?…
