John Coomer, an unfortunate Kansas City Royals fan,  claims to have suffered a detached retina and other eye damage after a hot dog thrown by Sluggerrr, the Royals’ mascot, hit him in the face at Kauffman Stadium. He filed a lawsuit against the Royals in February 2010.

We can only assume that Coomer turned down all settlement offers from the Royals’ front office (“Season tickets for life? In the all-you-can-eat seats? No?!”), because today marks the first day of tubesteak testimony in Jackson County Circuit Court.
