My Big Fat Greek Restaurant is opening, but when?

Image via Flickr: Geoff Peters 604 The manager of the yet-unopened Olathe location of the Arizona-based My Big Fat Greek Restaurant is named Nico. “Just call me Nico R,” he says. He’s a little more guarded on subjects other than his name — like when the full-service Greek restaurant opens at 119th Street and Black Bob Road. Categories: Dining,…

Top five cheap buffets

In the blue of evening, everything’s golden at the Corral The truth hurts — the economy sucks and you can’t sit on the patio at Julian every night, nursing an expensive glass of wine and a tasty cauliflower flan with roasted garlic crostini. On the other hand, you don’t want to cook at home every night. Or maybe any…

Kansas student reported being raped on-campus near The Wheel Bar

The Sunflower Showdown is tonight … but there was a rape on KU’s campus yesterday. The Sunflower Showdown is tonight in Lawrence, and while I’m looking forward to KU and K-State slugging it out, there’s bad news in Lawrence. Sam Brownback claims he hasn’t talked with Lou Engle in months, still won’t elaborate on concerns with the preacher

Kansas gubernatorial hopeful Sam Brownback’s moratorium on talking about his former roommate and one-time fan of gay execution legislation Lou Engle didn’t last long. Just a couple of days after Brownback’s camp said the senator wouldn’t talk about his awkward relationship with the kooky Kansas City-based founder of TheCall, Brownback discussed his feelings about Engle after a debate last night…

The store originally began with Jan and Jack Fischman peddling 8-track tapes out of a 1962 van, and now serves as a hub for sex toys, smoking, and hip-hop…

Top 5 most interesting vodka infusions in Kansas City

Vodka has become the spirit of the mad scientist. In college, I thought we were forward-thinking when we filled a watermelon with vodka. In today’s world of bubblegum vodka, that seems about as exotic as a screwdriver. But in Kansas City, a few bartenders with a lot more imagination are making some interesting cocktails with infused vodkas. Though a bar…

After hearing that an Atlanta man was perched on top of a skyscraper, the rapper recorded a video on his phone and drove to the scene, asking to speak to him.  “I told him it ain’t that bad. It’ll get better, to put the time and effort into making it better,” T.I….
