Say goodbye to the Sonic guys, but Barkley will keep some of Sonic’s business

The Sonic Guys won’t be attempting to calculate the number of flavor combinations or heat of a cheddar pepper for much longer. Earlier this month, Sonic Corp. began a review of its national media campaign, which Barkley has overseen for the past 17 years.

After it was announced that Barkley had elected not to defend its campaign, it appeared that the Kansas City-based agency would lose the entire account in early 2011. Yesterday, the Kansas City Business Journal reported that Barkley will keep the field marketing, public relations assignments and “cause branding” (like the Limeades for Learning program).
