You can eat at Nate’s Swap Shop even when it’s freezing out

Brandon Frederick, a Pitch photography intern, created a slideshow this week capturing the unique appeal of Nate’s Swap Shop, held every Saturday and Sunday from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the old 63rd Street Drive-In at 8200 East 63rd Street.

During the swap shop’s busiest months, from March to December, there can be as many as a dozen food vendors selling everything from hot dogs to tamales between the tables and blankets used as display settings by sellers hawking tires, collectibles, brassieres, beauty products and CDs. You can work up an appetite digging through all that stuff.
