They won’t help you break camp, but they will help you breakfast. The New York Times has a piece on food sherpas – the guides that charge per person to shepherd a small group of foodies to the underground food spots around a given city – that occupies the space between an Onion article and a trend story from The Atlantic.

Here, in Kansas City, we’ve got the KC Barbecue Tour and Taste of Kansas City Food Tours. If sherpas, carrying hot-sauce packets and miniature bottles of Schnapps to counteract the cheese fondue, exist in the hills of KC, would you hire one as a food guide?
