Will Kansas City have the world’s biggest croissant?

Fat City reader Julie from Rosedale wrote to say that she has a new name for the still-uncompleted Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts — designed by noted architect Moshe Safdie — in downtown Kansas City: The Croissant!
Julie writes: “The thing looks like a pair of giant glass croissants! I’ve been calling it the Croissant for months and everybody knows instantly what I’m talking about.”

I’m not sure I would have known what Julie was talking about without a little prompting, but on closer examination, I think I see the resemblance to a nice, buttery croissant. If the name caught on, it could give Kansas City a new cachet in the culinary world.
