Will ‘Kansas City’ always be code for barbecue in other towns?

In every city outside of this one, there is a place with a shining neon sign that has something named Kansas City on the menu.

While we likely can’t trademark Kansas City, I think it would be nice to establish some standards. We can’t have people across the country thinking they’ve had a true KC barbecue experience just because somebody uncorked an industrial-sized bottle of KC Masterpiece in the back.
