Wild Turkey Master Distiller Jimmy Russell will be at Hy-Vee Liquors today

Wild Turkey bottles always end up empty at the end of the night for some reason…

Don’t forget to add some bourbon to your shopping list. Wild Turkey Master Distiller Jimmy Russell stops at the Prairie Village Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits Store (7711 State Line Road, on the Missouri side) from 3 to 5 today.

He’ll be signing bottles and telling stories about the famed Kentucky bourbon producer. Hy-Vee has promised an “informal tasting” (which means that you can probably pop by and make it through the end of the day at work) as well as specials on bourbon bottles.

Rusell has worked for the bourbon maker since 1954. Wild Turkey has now entered its third century, having begun operation in the 1890s. Today, the brand is owned by French beverage company Pernod Richard SA Campari.

Russell is a character — a literal link between several generations of bourbon drinkers. This post on Insatiable gives a sense of what’s it like to tour the Wild Turkey distillery with him. Better yet, stop by Hy-Vee and ask him yourself.
