Fat City readers made a lot of great guesses in response to our “Where Am I Eating” question, but only one commenter, Erin, came up with the correct answer. That’s right, Erin, the featured dessert is from the new Hamburger Mary’s restaurant in the big purple building at 101 Southwest Boulevard. It’s the Crispy Snickers Banana Split, and features two scoops of ice cream and a banana dripping with caramel, chocolate and raspberry sauces, a squirt of whipped cream and pieces of Snickers bar wrapped in wonton wrappers and deep-fried.
The restaurant’s owner, Dr. Eric Christensen, worked his way through medical school as both a line cook and waiter at the old Emile’s German Restaurant on the Country Club Plaza. Could an apple strudel be in Hamburger Mary’s future?
