When a Blue Koi server talks you into cheesecake wontons, your life if changed forever

There’s generally something annoying about a server pushing a course on you — appetizers, dessert, post-dinner coffee, whatever. We dine out to escape the salesmen in our lives, to be in total control of our choices. Suggestions are fine, but we don’t go out to dinner to be talked into something we may not really want.

So after sufficiently stuffing my food-hole with noodles and dumplings at Blue Koi this weekend, I should have been thrown off when my spiky-haired server started pushing my table to try the restaurant’s cheesecake wontons. But something about her pitch seemed genuine and well-meaning — and now I know why.
