What food outside KC is worth the cost of the tank of gas to get there?

Some people travel for activities, some people travel for attractions (the largest ball of twine is still out there, folks), but the smart people get in the car to experience a great meal. This is essentially the idea that sparked Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives; which recaptures the American ideal of just getting in the car and going.

So let’s conduct our own version of ‘Triple D,’ sans chef Guy Fieri. I’ve been thinking about this since downing a guberburger at the Wheel Inn Drive-In last week. Which restaurants outside the city are worth the gas money and time to get to them?
