What does the Tonight Show think of bacon vodka?
The bacon phenomenon has been well explored here at Fat City yet never completely understood. Yes, bacon is delicious and all that jazz but bacon bandages, bacon breath mints, bacon tuxedos?
Part of the gross-food movement’s obsession with bacon has been to pair it with odd food items. One of the grosser of these has been bacon-flavored vodka. This week on the Tonight Show, announcer Andy Richter decided to sample Bakon, the first commercial example of the infused spirit.
Conan O’Brien said it smelled like fermented Bac-O Bits, which is actually one of the nicer things people have said about it. The Onion‘s A.V. Club made a home-batch and described it as being “the pale yellow color of healthy,
bacon-scented urine” and smelling like “rubbing-alcohol fumes and rancid bacon fat.”
Sadly Bakon is only available in the Northwest, so you’re stuck using one of the many homemade recipes online. Not the least of which is the jalapeno bacon vodka on KC Beer Blog.
