Westport Local Pig is offering a five-course beer dinner with Santa Fe Brewing Company tonight

If you’ve got dinner on your mind, we’ve got a hearty recommendation. Tonight at 6 p.m., the Local Pig in Westport is hosting its first beer dinner with Santa Fe Brewing Company. The dinner is five courses with five beer pairings for $50/person – and tax and gratuity are included.

“I sat down with the Sante Fe guys and tasted some of their beers, and we just talked about what the flavors reminded us of,” chef Mark Dandurand says. “We took those ideas and paired them with some of the things that we do here. We have beef tongue and beef heart and pork loin, and for dessert, we’re doing a bacon-studded waffle with hollandaise, and pairing that with the Java Stout. It’s a breakfast dish, because our thinking was that the end of the meal should be like the start of your night.”

Dandurand continues: “The idea was to match the beers with the food that we do here, but to get a little adventurous. We’ve found that because we’re local and we’re a butcher shop, people trust us to do things like beef tongue and heart and chicken liver mousse – things that are a little more unique. This dinner gives us a lot of opportunity to be creative.”

There are 20 seats left open for tonight’s dinner. You can call the Westport Local Pig at (816) 531-2337 to make a reservation for this evening. Dinner begins at 6 p.m.
