The WestChase Grille joins 40 Sardines on the list of restaurants that were once open at 11942 Roe in Leawood. The restaurant in Hawthorne Plaza – the brainchild of chefs John Westerhaus and Chase Wilcox (the West and Chase in the name) – has closed.

“It is with the deepest regret, that I have to tell you that I have closed the doors at WestChase Grille permanently,” wrote chef and co-owner Westerhaus in an e-mail to customers yesterday. “After four years of serving you and your families, I had to make a very difficult decision and let go of this part of my dream. The restaurant is empty, the music is stilled and the kitchen is cold, but I will always remember your warm handshakes, your steadfast loyalty, and your gracious support.”

The restaurant, which served modern takes on comfort food and had live music five nights a week, opened at the end of 2008.
