Waxy O’Shea’s has closed in Shawnee

Waxy O’Shea’s Irish Pub & Restaurant (11900 Shawnee Mission Parkway) in Shawnee has closed just a week shy of its second anniversary. The Kansas City Star reported that it was a victim of the economy, although the pub’s sister restaurant in Branson will remain open.

The Shawnee pub, named after the Irish nickname for a candle maker, opened in 2009 in the former Bandana’s BBQ space in Ten Quivira Plaza. The location has been a bit of a revolving door for restaurants — Smokehouse BBQ also flamed out on Shawnee Mission Parkway.
