Vending machines may soon be judging you on your looks

Just as some have a face for radio, you might have a face for coffee drinks.
At least that’s the idea behind a new vending machine in Japan that uses facial recognition software (h/t Consumerist) to suggest what you might like to drink. This isn’t a retinal scan to determine if you’re credit-worthy; the machine uses targeted demographic information to make a prediction for you based on your age and gender.
