That fabulous, retro A-frame building at 634 East 63rd Street has had many lives. It’s about to get one more next month when Robin and Danny Krause — Robin is a partner in the Filling Station coffeehouse business — open the Unbakery & Juicery.
The building — it has been a bank, a hair salon, a burger shack, a coffee shop and a grill — will become a venue for fresh juices and treats made with raw ingredients: an unbaked carrot cake, granola bars, cheesecake and cookies. The motto: “snack strong.”
“We’ll offer a chia-seed pudding topped with fresh fruit compote,” Robin Krause says. And the carrot cake and cheesecake are great for breakfast.”
She says she also plans to begin offering classes in the building, starting with one centered on sugar detox. “I believe that we can still have our sweet snacks but still eat healthy,” she says.
When it opens, Unbakery & Juicery’s hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
