Two events tonight

I’m a big fan of KCPT. Frontline is the most informative program on television and it’s always a joy to randomly see Alan Alda’s face. The public television station also hasn’t been afraid to do good local programming like Check Please!. Tonight its highlight won’t be on the telly but instead at City Tavern, where Oyster Royster benefits KCPT’s cultural programming.

The event goes from 5 to 8 and features a fashion show, live music and oysters galore. On the half shell, Rockefeller… any pearls you find you get to keep. There’s also plenty on the menu that isn’t oyster or seafood.

Tickets are $45 per person, available online at KCPT’s Web site.

Tonight’s other event is ODV’s monthly wine tasting, which takes place at the Terrace on Grand, a rooftop space with spectacular views located at 1520 Grand. As always, the event features four wines — including a syrah/genache blend called Acacia.

ODV begins at 6 p.m. and tickets are $25 at the door.
