Twinkies could return as early as this summer

  • The Phillips Sisters were right, just hold on for one more day.

Before America can be saved by Doritos Locos Tacos, we need to find our way out of the wilderness. And there is no signpost quite like the cream-filled one that is a Twinkie. So Zubaz wearers and beer-helmet donners, this is your moment. Twinkies has a buyer (as does Ding Dongs, Ho Hos, Snowballs and Dolly Madison Zingers, but let’s stick to the hero, not the sidekicks for now).

And as The New York Times reports, the price for those former Hostess brands is a cool $410 million. The proposed brand overlords, Apollo Global Management and Metropolous & Co., owners of Pabst Blue Ribbon and Vlasic pickles (throw in a Twinkie and that’s an adult lunchable) are apparently hoping to get the five production sites up and running in short order to be able to stock store shelves by this summer. A federal bankruptcy judge still has to approve the sale, and a hearing date has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 19. For those, who can’t wait, the Funnel Cake Truck should be well-stocked for the next few months.
