Town Topic, Winstead’s … ‘Best Burgers’? Really?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of the cheeseburgers at Town Topic and Winstead’s, two of Kansas City’s most beloved and iconic burger joints. But I’m not sure that I would go so far as to name their signature burgers to the roster of the “best burgers in the United States,” as the website The Daily Meal did on Tuesday.
One of my personal burger favorites in the metro is LC’s Hamburgers at 7612 N.W. Prairieview Road in the Northland, which is, I’m sorry to report, temporarily closed after a fire last night. It would rank high on my list of great burgers in Greater Kansas City. In fact, I’m craving one right now.
My other recommendations for such a list would have included the Jacobson Burger at the Jacobson (2030 Central), the cheeseburgers at the Westport Flea Market (817 Westport Road), the double cheeseburgers at the Humdinger Drive-In (2504 East Ninth Street), the dry-aged steakburger at Anton’s Taproom (1610 Main), and the double Angus cheeseburger at Burgers & Chicks, 5018 N.E. Parvin Road.
But I’m much more interested in hearing where you, Fast Pitch readers, go for the burger that you consider to be the best in the metro. Maybe I’m wrong and you feel that the Daily Meal was on the money with Town Topic and Winstead’s. Or perhaps you have a suggestion that trumps all the great burgers we’ve mentioned so far.
