Fans of Good Eats will be glad to hear that Alton Brown is coming. And while you’ll have to wait until 2014 to get your fix of the prolific cookbook author and ubiquitous hawker of grape juice, tickets go on sale Friday, August 2, at 10 a.m. for the show at the Midland (1228 Main).

The Edible Inevitable Tour is the latest in a series of chef-driven traveling shows (Guy Fieri rolled through town twice in the past several years). The description promises stand-up comedy, singing, food demonstrations, live music, and that “ponchos will be involved.” The boisterous host of Iron Chef America seems built for a variety show that doubles as a high-tech version of a cooking demo. Brown’s performance is set for Friday, January 31, at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $32.50 to $57.50.
