The Westport Plaza Farmers Market: small and expensive

![]() |
As neighborhood Farmers Markets go, the former 39th Street Community Market, which moved from 39th Street this year to a parking lot at the intersection of Westport Road and Wyoming and took a new name — the Westport Plaza Farmers Market — is very tiny. The Wednesdays-only market, which operates from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., sells locally grown, sustainably produced vegetables, fruits, honey, eggs and organic meats. I was thrilled to be able to buy an organic cucumber — a 1-pound cuke! — but the $2.50 price tag was one hell of a pickle: I barely had enough cash!
