The Reverie coffee shop and ice cream parlor now open in Grain Valley

Shaun Triplett saw a vacant space near his job and thought about what it might be like to open up a restaurant. The Reverie — named in honor of his daydreaming — opened on December 22 in Grain Valley.
“My dream was always to bring that feel of the Westport coffee shops out here,” says Triplett.
Since the store’s official grand opening on January 2, he’s been busy taking customers’ ideas for drinks to add to the menu — such as the inside hot chocolate (white chocolate and steamed milk topped with chocolate whipped cream).
“I can make any drink. I’m not Starbucks. This was built for the customers,” says Triplett.
He uses Farmer Brothers coffee, out of Lee’s Summit, and
Belfonte ice cream as the base for the store’s menu. There’s a full
roster of coffee drinks (a small coffee’s $1.50 and a large is $1.75; cappuccinos are $2.75 and $3). Triplett also sells Italian sodas ($2/$2.25),
blended smoothies ($3.50, all named for Beatles’ songs, like the
Strawberry Banana Fields forever) and shakes ($3). For food, there’s
bagels ($1) or ice cream ($1.50).
