The intersection of cat lovers and cake lovers

Finding the sweet spot of the Internet is like searching for the Holy Grail. It’s probably not going to happen unless Sean Connery is involved. And since he’s not taking Fat City’s telephone calls, we’re left to root around blindly hoping to find that one story that somehow brings together everyone online.
And this time we think we’ve found it (suck it, Trebek) in the form of a post by Geek Culture: the 20 Best Cat Cupcakes. It is as the title suggests a compendium of the 20 finest examples of feline-inspired baking.
It covers everything from Garfield to cat memes being captured in cupcake form. If you want to make your own cat cupcake, I suggest this black cat with terrifying candy corn eyes.
To those not up on their children’s literature, apparently you should never Give a Cat a Cupcake. And despite cats not being able to taste sweet flavors, there is a disproportionate number of pictures online that show owners ignoring that advice and depict cats eating cupcakes.
Even though cats may feign interest in cupcakes — striving more for attention than for icing — there is no denying the power a cupcake holds over a dog. Consider “Stains,” from the television show It’s Me or the Dog. We have all made that face when presented with the dessert case.
As to whether this is where the Internet is headed, only time will tell. But it’s your move, Connery. Your move.
