The five most impractical uses for lasers in cooking

A video of a popcorn kernel being popped by a pair of hand-held lasers has been making the rounds virally this week [h/t CrunchGear]. The lasers, which look like mini lightsabers, run $299 apiece and take about a minute and 40 seconds to pop a single kernel.

Since Americans consume 17.3 billion quarts of popped popcorn each year, Fat City decided to look at the most impractical uses for lasers in cooking.
