The American Royal and other weekend possibilities
If you haven’t made it to the American Royal yet, that’s something you should remedy this week. The 33rd annual barbecue contest is today (from noon to midnight) and Saturday (from 10 a.m. to midnight). Walk by competition teams and cooking demonstrations until you can stand it no longer. Then gorge yourself on barbecue that is for sale and on barbecue sauce and rubs from the expo tent. Advance tickets cost $5 for children aged 6 to 12 and $11 for adults.
