The 10 most annoying habits of restaurant diners

While servers typically bear the brunt of customers’ annoyance at

restaurants, other diners are just as likely to ruin a perfectly good

meal through poor behavior or difficult ordering habits.

The Chicago Tribune has a Top 10 List of the Most Annoying Habits of Restaurant Diners. I think I’ve been guilty of at least two on the list.

Number

7 — talking loudly on a cell phone — is potentially the worst on the

list as far as I’m concerned. It’s almost as annoying in a restaurant

as when someone in the row next to you at the movies unclips his phone

and answers it “Yeah, I’m at a movie…”

From the lengthy list

of comments, those who substitute ingredients, fail to control their

children or disrespect their server can expect to feel the wrath of

fellow diners. I’ve never had to ask a manager to intervene, but I have

sympathetically overtipped a waiter faced with an impossible diner.

OK, Fat City friends, what behavior drives you nuts?
