Tea Drops Celebrating a New Beginning

By Owen Morris

Hal Brody, owner of Tea Drops in Westport (and founder of The Pitch; he sold the paper in 1999), is handing over the tea shop to Robert and Janet Bloom of D’Bronx restaurant fame.

Brody, who moved to California in 2007, said by e-mail that he has been “looking for the right people to take over and continue to nurture Tea Drops and recently was fortunate enough to work out a succession plan with some old friends. Robert and Janet Bloom started and operated D’Bronx for some 20 years and the timing worked out well for all of us.”

To celebrate, Tea Drops hosts a party Thursday, September 11 at 7 pm. Again from Brody: “There will be a Japanese Tea Ceremony, thoughts from a Sufi Minister lots of Good Vibrations and wonderful guests.”

The party is for old friends of the store and anyone who has any interest in tea (in other words, the general public).
