Stroud’s in Fairway has closed

A fixture in Fairway since 2008, Stroud’s on Shawnee Mission Parkway has closed, effective yesterday.

The reason appears to be issues with the property itself.

“Stroud’s was informed several years ago that a redevelopment was forthcoming and because of it, it entered into a short-term lease with the landlord until a firm timeline for the redevelopment was in place,” according to a release from the restaurant. “The timeline remains uncertain while repairs and updates the building and parking lot are seriously needed in order provide Stroud’s guests with a high-quality and safe dining experience.”

Rather than invest significantly in a short-term property it may not occupy for very long, the decision was made to close the restaurant.

Both the Overland Park and the Oak Ridge Manor locations remain open. The 25 Fairway employees “will be offered jobs at the other restaurants,” according to Stroud’s management.
