Still waiting for Clark’s to open? So are the Clarks

  • Clark’s will be serving lunch in January…we hope.

Last August, Fat City reported that the Clark family – Dr. Granville Clark and his sons, Robert and Joseph – were very close to opening a new restaurant, Clark’s American Caribbean Restaurant, in the spot vacated by Royal Kabob King and New Tandoor Cafe at 3623 Broadway. It’s still not open.

“We’ve had some major issues to contend with,” says chef Joseph Clark, who is overseeing the project. “There has been one thing after another. Now it’s the electrical system and the plumbing. But, honestly, once we’ve got those problems solved, we’re so close to opening. The dining room is done. The staff has been hired. We’re ready to start cooking.”

Joseph Clark says that once the 125-seat restaurant opens its doors, hopefully in January, it will serve only lunch for the first few weeks, adding dinner service later.
