Simply the best! Kansas City one of Travel + Leisure’s top five

Fat City readers have come through! Per Travel + Leisure, we’re one of America’s new favorite cities, joining Houston, Cleveland, Providence and St. Louis for the honor.

In this blog’s month-long campaign to get Kansas City into the top five on Travel + Leisure’s poll, less than a week ago Kansas City was sitting at the dreaded number six. But you and some other crazed Kansas Citians have pushed our fair city up the ranks and on to the next round. Because only five cities could advance, the odd man out was Baltimore.

The next round now starts June 1, when the magazine asks readers to rank 30 cities on everything from “attractiveness of the people to

the quality of the food and dining.” Some of the competition include New York, Chicago, Seattle, Austin, pretty much every big cool city on the coast.

It’s going to be tough for Kansas City to compete with those places (though we can take St. Louis no sweat right?) but we should all be content with just making it. Enjoy today’s victory.
