Two veterans of Kansas City’s Bread & Butter Concepts are now operating the RND Corner Grille in Lawrence, which opened December 18 at 801 Massachusetts, the former location of the Esquina and Intorno restaurants.
The restaurant is owned by Bret Spring and Zach Marten of Kansas City’s Coal Vines pizzeria and Westport Ale House.
Daniel White, who was executive chef at Gram & Dun before he decamped for the Capital Grille, and director of operations Jason Kinslow call RND Corner Grille’s menu “contemporary American grill favorites.” The menu features beef carpaccio, Caprese salad, tater tots, salads and sandwiches, roasted chicken, seared trout, boneless rib-eye and filet mignon.
The restaurant is serving only dinner so far, says Kinslow, with lunch and brunch menus set to be introduced on January 18.
The building has long been familiar to Lawrence residents as the former Round Corner Drug Store. Although the venue was remodeled for both Esquina and Intorno, Kinslow says the space was gutted to create the new restaurant, which now seats 98.
