Now you have plans for the weekend

You need plans. Fat City has a recycle bin full of listings. In this post, all our problems are solved.

The birds are singing, your neighbor is mowing the lawn, and that means the Farmers’ Community Market

at Brookside is set to return. The weekly market kicks off Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 63rd Street and Wornall, selling organic

vegetables, free-range eggs and meat, fresh-baked bread and organic

coffee. Get there in the first two hours for the homemade breakfast

burritos.

Another farmers market

opens the same day in downtown Overland Park. Early birds get the

honey, produce and meats when the market (on Marty, between 79th and

80th streets) opens at 6:30 a.m. and remains open until the vendors

sell out. The Clock Tower won’t help you travel back in time, but you

can enjoy fresh pies underneath it. (In June, the market opens on

Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m.)

Get a jump on your own garden Friday night when BadSeed Farm (1909 McGee) has an organic transplant sale from 4 to 8. You can buy heirloom herbs, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and edible flowers. Folks from PJ’s Mushroom Farm will also be on hand to sell shiitake mushrooms and eggs.
