Now open: Never on Sunday Greek Restaurant

Yes, the name is Never on Sunday, and no, it’s not open on Sunday. |
There’s a new Greek restaurant on Kansas City’s south side, Never on Sunday (9932 Holmes), which borrows its name from the sexy 1960 movie of the same name. The spartan storefront restaurant in the Gomer’s Plaza Shopping Center isn’t so sexy, but Greek-born owner Jimmy Milis creates the kind of Greek food — souvlaki, pastitsio, creamy galaktoubouriko custard — that appeals to the senses.
Fancy, it’s not. The dining area has less than a dozen tables, and the lighting, I think it’s fair to say, can be best described as unkind to diners of any age. But Milis, who opened the restaurant this week, says much of his new business seems to be carryout.
