No. 43: Gyro sandwich from Mr. Gyros Greek Food & Pastry

While not formal, the gyro sandwich from Mr. Gyros (8424 Metcalf and 8575 West 135th Street, Overland Park) needs a title when you’re considering how to address it with your mouth. Now this is a sandwich. Slices of peppery gyro meat — a combination of beef and lamb — are piled high on a soft, oversized pita, as thick-cut tomatoes and round circles of raw, white onion attempt to hold a meat avalanche at bay.
