Napoleon Bakery is back, this time on Main Street
The pastry shop and cafe known as Napoleon Bakery clearly has more lives than Thomasina the Cat. After pastry chef James Holmes bought the venerable Westport-based restaurant and pastry shop from its original owners, the Schanzer family, in 2008, he moved the business out to 119th Street in Overland Park in 2010. The same year, Holmes opened — and closed — a satellite venue in Briarcliff Village. After shuttering the Overland Park bakery in the autumn of 2010, he opened another satellite bakery in the historic Jazz District at 1601 East 18th Street; it also has closed.
But wait! It’s back! Six weeks ago, Holmes took over the old Muddy’s Coffeehouse space at 3945 Main (yes, there have been a couple of other short-lived tenants in the space since Muddy’s closed). The new business, operated by Holmes’ daughter, Taylor, is called Napoleon Pastry Bar and is open Tuesday through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
