The first year you live in Kansas City, you probably think spring arrives on March 21. The second, you start to buy into the idea that weather is a bit more fickle, so you officially deem it spring on Opening Day for the Royals. But by the third year, you understand an immutable truth: Spring officially arrives when Murray’s Ice Cream (4120 Pennsylvania) opens.

The Westport ice-cream shop, now in its 29th year, opens its doors for the season on Wednesday, March 20. And right now the scoop shop is hiring.
