More accolades for Broadmoor Bistro

I’ve already touted the wonderful high school culinary program at Broadmoor Bistro (as did Star Magazine this weekend). The students there continue to win award after award.
Sammy Jo Claussen beat out 33 competitors from across the nation to win “Best Teen Chef 2009” as sponsored by the International Culinary School at the Art
Institutes International in Charlotte, NC. In addition, Kaitlyn McKissick of Olathe North High School’s culinary program placed second at the Charlotte competition.
The high school students had two hours to prepare three dishes, including oyster stew and catfish, with their own choice of garnish. Claussen won for her “overall talent and the preparation of her catfish, in particular.”
For winning, she receives a full tuition scholarship to the the International Culinary School, and the opportunity to intern for a day in the Food Network kitchens, as well as a library of Food Network Kitchens cookbooks. McKissick won a half-tuition scholarship to study at the Colorado location of the school.
Congrats to both and keep up the good work!
