Masturbation joke in Columbia yearbook leads to criminal charges for student

  • Remember kids, masturbation is not a joking matter.

This is one of those stories that makes you shake your head, look down and mutter, “Kids these days…” A student at Columbia’s Hickman High School allegedly played a little prank in the yearbook, and now she’s facing criminal charges. The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that Kaitlyn Booth, 17, is accused of changing the name of fellow student Raigan Mastain’s last name to “masturbate.”

The two worked together on the yearbook, and the victim brought the hardly clever name change to school officials after they were printed. Now Booth is facing charges of first-degree property damage (which is a felony) and harassment. The school affixed stickers that correctly spelled the name to each of the 720 copies of the yearbook. The paper reports it took school staff 12 hours to put the stickers in.
