Today is the big day: The Pitch Burger Week has officially started with $5 burger specials offered by 16 different restaurants and bars through Sunday, October 25. It’s the best deal for handhelds in the metro — these featured burgers typically cost in the $11-$12 range.

The entire list of participating restaurants and their distinctive burgers — some created especially for Burger Week — can be found here.

But back to the Holy Guacamole Burger at Lew’s Grill & Bar. It’s a multicultural sandwich, melding an American classic with a deft Mexican spin and a Parisian-style brioche bun.

Last week The Pitch previewed several of this week’s featured Burger Week choices, including the Flying Saucer’s Hangover Burger, Niecie’s Bacon Boss Burger, the Post Season Porker Burger at the new KC’s Smokehouse and Pub, the B.O.M.B Burger at the Well and the Quarter Pound BBQ Burger at Fuddruckers.

At Lew’s Grill & Bar, the kitchen crew makes the burger patty with creamy espinaca — that cheesy spinach dip — and soothing guacamole relish and diced tomatoes. It requires no other condiments. And for five bucks, you might want dos.
