Latin Bistro to open a downtown satellite restaurant

Hey, wasn’t it just four months ago that Fat City reported on a new tenant in the storefront restaurant at 11th Street and Oak — on the ground floor of the parking garage across the street from the Jackson County Courthouse? At that time, the space was the latest location of restaurateur Mekedem Belete’s Addis Ababa Cafe.

Well, Addis Ababa has left the building, and there’s already a new tenant announcing his residency: the larger-than-life chef Tito Le Chef, proprietor of the popular Latin Bistro & Culinary Center at 6924 North Oak Trafficway.

Chef Tito (real name: Vasilio Dios) says he’ll open his satellite outpost of the Latin Bistro by the first week in August. “We will only serve breakfast and lunch,” Tito says. “I’ll be there myself from 6 a.m. until afternoon, and then I’ll go to the other restaurant to start getting ready for dinner.”
