Lamar’s unveils the cupcake-donut hybrid

Cupcakes meet cake donuts courtesy of Lamar’s Donuts this month. The local shop unveiled the red velvet donut on Saturday.

There’s no cream cheese frosting or extraneous flavors — this is just a shockingly red donut with a light glaze. The glaze is clear, making the red donut easy to see in the case next to the long johns and crullers.

By Sunday at 9 a.m., the Lamar’s in Mission (5901 Johnson Drive) was long sold out of the red velvet donuts, but the location at 3395 Main Street had a dozen left.
