Whoever’s running things at the Hangout on Broadway should win an award. Whether they’re bringing in drum-‘n’-bass producers from Europe and Canada, well-established house and hip-hop locals such as Pat Nice and Joc Max, or making you Feel Sexy with Miles Bonny, the folks at 3611 Broadway know how to throw a party. Coming in for Shake and Pop v.2 (thrown by Kansas City heads Ben Fuller and DJ Candlewax) is KRNL.PANIC, one of the hottest DJs and producers to come out of the Pacific Northwest. A number of KRNL.PANIC’s productions have joined the most requested songs on BBC’s Radio 1. The Hangout is one of the rare spots in this city where you can buy a ticket to see artists like this — ones you’ve read about for the past six months but who usually skip this part of the country while on tour. Come out to Shake and Pop and see how a real residency is done.
