KC Cake Pops: Forget cupcakes, give your loved ones cake on a stick

Since the season to be jolly is fast-approaching, Fat City is looking around for holiday gift ideas, preferably the kind that can be eaten (or used to make something that can be devoured). After all, diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but everyone else wants a box of good candy or a festive cheese ball. 

When co-workers Becca Helzer and Renea Mulkey — who had been fellow employees for nine years at Sioux Chief Manufacturing Company in Peculiar — were thinking up ideas to earn a little extra dough, they thought of making cupcakes. Then, after doing an internet search about the local cupcake market, they had an epiphany.

“A lot of people in Kansas City were already doing the cupcake thing,” said Helzer. “Too many, in fact.”
